MYSO Concerto Competitions

MYSO sponsors concerto competitions for six of the MYSO groups. These afford students the opportunity to prepare a movement of a concerto with an accompanist and to perform it in competition with their peers. One or more winners receive the opportunity to perform their solo piece accompanied by members of their own orchestra. The winner of the Senior Symphony Concerto Competition also receives the $1,500 Carrie Rondeau Memorial Concerto Scholarship.

You are encouraged to apply for this wonderful opportunity! Full info and applications are distributed in the fall with an early January competition date.

Competitors are responsible for finding their own pianist, but MYSO does have lists of accompanists available to help with this.

See links to all MYSO competition forms at left.

Carrie Rondeau Memorial Scholarship Fund

Carrie Rondeau, a talented violinist and long-time member of MFY/MYSO, died in 1993 at age 24, after a courageous battle with leukemia. As a result of generous contributions from her family and friends, the Carrie Rondeau Memorial Concerto Scholarship Fund was established to memorialize Carrie and to provide support for the musical excellence she so admired and exemplified.

We thank Carrie's parents, Tom and Sally Rondeau, for offering and supporting this award.
