11/23 Note

Dear Metropolitan Symphony Musicians,

We had another very productive and well-attended rehearsal last night. We are especially appreciative of your attention to tone production and projecting your sound more and more effectively. Obviously, we are still working on certain passages, but music is definitely starting to happen. Listening, especially to the Beach, will continue to help you learn. You could even do this on the road if you are traveling this week!

Next week, you will have a sectional rehearsal with an expert clinician. We are very excited about this special session. Please make sure you are ready to learn and also to ask questions. Think about passages that are challenging and prepare a question or two ahead of time. Our clinician team, hired specially for this day, is here to help you learn and grow! We know you will receive a lot of targeted support to assist your learning and technical development. They will also likely provide you with specific practice suggestions that you can use over the upcoming weeks leading up to our February concert. We are lucky to have this opportunity.

We hope you have a restful Thanksgiving break! We are grateful to work with all of you, week in and week out. Be safe and be well. We look forward to seeing you at sectionals on November 29th!
