12.1.22 Note

Dear Metropolitan Symphony Musicians,

We are three rehearsals into the new cycle (including a sight reading kick-off) and are ready for serious sectional work! MYSO has arranged for an excellent team of clinicians to come in next week to help you work through the most challenging passages of our music. They will also help to develop your general performance and orchestral skills. This next session is one of the most helpful and important ones between now and the concert. Please do everything you can to be here and ready to learn on Monday!

As we have reminded you a few times, you will get more from your sectional specialist if you bring your questions to the rehearsal. There are lots of pages of music to work through. But you can (and should!) help guide the work so that the spots YOU want help with are covered. It is likely that everyone in the section will have the same learning needs.

Strings: Mr. E has requested the clinicians make some time for Tchaikovsky letters E and O, even though we won’t perform this until later this season. You will all be submitting a video of yourself at a tempo that works for you in early January, so this is a great opportunity to ask for practice strategies for this critically important passage. No faking here!

Thanks to you all for your preparation and commitment to doing your best in the amazing Metropolitan Orchestra!

Take care, and see you Monday!

Mr. John Emanuelson (JohnEmanuelson@myso.org)
Mr. Jon Winkle (winkle@uwm.edu)
