10.25.22 Note from Mr. Duffy

Hi, Everyone.

I’m looking forward to our rehearsal Thursday night (Thursday, October 27)! This will be our final rehearsal before we perform at the Sharon Lynn Wilson Center on October 30, and I can’t wait to see how much progress we’ll make!

Important new information: I found another recording of Slavonic Dance No. 8 (linked below), and I’d like all of you to listen to this performance many times (or at least twice!) before Thursday’s rehearsal.  The overall performance tempo and the rallentando sections before Letter I and near the end of the piece are very similar to the way I intend to lead our performance. Listening to, and internalizing this YouTube performance will help us save some valuable rehearsal time on this piece on Thursday!

Congrats on a great start with MYSO’s Play Your Part Fundraising campaign!  We’re in our final week of the campaign and I hope all of you are able to make a great final push to reach or surpass the $150 goal that has been set for all of us. As an added incentive, I will be happy to donate $25 to the first four Philharmonia musicians who email me an invitation to donate to their fundraising campaign.  It’s never too late to start or continue this important work!
