Welcome & Congratulations, 2022-2023 Senior Symphony!

Good Afternoon, Senior Symphony Musicians!

I hope that this note finds you doing very well during what I imagine may be a final week of school for many of you, or first week of summer vacation. Congratulations and “way to go!” on getting through another big year.  You are each truly remarkable—I hope you enjoy a perfect summer.

I am very happy to welcome you to the orchestra which is an extraordinary group of people from throughout our area who have many gifts, interests, and talents.  You are extremely important musicians and your leadership and impact are recognized both nationally and internationally. What I hope you discover is that the orchestra is a place you’ll find happiness and friends while you seriously pursue your musical journey.

If you haven’t heard the orchestra, here are a couple recordings from our final concert on May 22nd:

Sibelius Violin Concerto in D Minor, Op. 47, Mvt 1; Clark Snavely, Violin

Tchaikovsky, The Year 1812, A Solemn Overture (1812 Overture)

Looking forward, some of the orchestra’s musicians volunteer to help me with programming our concerts.  The Senior Symphony Program Committee met last summer to talk about the orchestra’s responsibilities and also what musicians would like to get out of playing in the orchestra. If you’d like to be part of that group this time around, please let me know and I’ll guide you through the rest!  I set aside a few times, which we’ll tweak if needed.
