10/25 Note

Dear Metropolitan Symphony Musicians,

Congratulations on a fantastic first performance of the 2021-22 season! We are really proud of your work, and more importantly, of your ongoing efforts over these past six weeks that led up to the concert. For those of you who remember the ‘Playathon’ shopping mall concerts of the past, we feel this more formal setting provided a much-enhanced performance experience to demonstrate what our orchestra can achieve so early in the year, after only five rehearsals! It is very exciting to imagine what we can accomplish together over a longer time frame for learning and connecting before our next concert in February.

For now, we hope you feel you did your very best and are proud of your work and observable positive engagement with our orchestra so far. Certainly, our audience responded warmly and enthusiastically to your musicianship and energy!

Looking ahead to our next rehearsal on Monday, November 1, we have selected some very challenging and exciting repertoire:

You will learn much from and be inspired by these masterworks for advanced symphony orchestra. Please use the provided links to recordings on YouTube so that you will know how these ‘go’ before our sight-reading rehearsal. Sheet music will be provided at that rehearsal and will also be posted on the MYSO website shortly for those of you who would like to get a head start.

Again, congratulations on yesterday’s performance!
