1969: MFY becomes charter member of UPAF

As the organization’s reputation and impact grew, MFY reached a pivotal milestone by becoming a charter member of United Performing Arts Fund (UPAF). This designation placed MFY among Milwaukee’s leading cultural institutions and affirmed its role as a vital contributor to the region’s performing arts landscape.

Soon after, MFY moved into the brand-new Marcus Center for the Performing Arts, then known as the Performing Arts Center, as an anchor tenant. Establishing its home in this state-of-the-art facility elevated the organization’s visibility and provided students with the extraordinary opportunity to rehearse and perform in a premier professional venue.

This move signaled a new era of artistic growth and community presence. Sharing space with Milwaukee’s most respected arts organizations reinforced MFY’s standing as a cornerstone of youth music education in the region and underscored its commitment to providing young musicians with an inspiring, professional-level environment in which to learn and perform.
