Dear Metropolitan Musician,
Congratulations on joining the mighty Metropolitan Symphony Orchestra! We are excited to begin working with you this fall. As the Music Directors for Met, we enjoy selecting challenging–and enjoyable–music for you to prepare and perform throughout the season.
We also run rehearsals in an interesting way: we each conduct Met – and play in Met. When Mr. Emanuelson is not conducting, he is most often playing in the violin sections; when Mr. Winkle is not conducting, he is most often found playing in the low brass section. This gives us tremendous insight into how to best work with you when we each are on the podium conducting.
You should know we are always interested in supporting your growth as a musician and as a person. While we are both very busy professionals, we do our very best to answer your questions and respond to any concerns you may have during the season, both at rehearsals and during the week.
Looking forward to seeing you later this summer!
Warmest regards,
Mr. John Emanuelson and Mr. Jonathan Winkle, Metropolitan Music Directors
