Alumna Opens for Grammy-Nominated Artist Miki Howard

Hip-Hop and R&B violinist Artaska Roberts (’05) was the featured opening act for Grammy-nominated R&B, soul, and jazz artist Miki Howard in May. Performing as Artaska Strings, this year she reached 15 million streams of her music; her single “Spontaneous” charted at #37 on the Smooth Jazz charts. Learn more at artaskastrings.com.

Senior Symphony Musicians Perform with Artist Grace Weber

Senior Symphony string players (violinists Rosy Kojis and Valkyrie Ladd; violists Sonya Wilhelm and Haley Burns; and cellists Gabby Peck, Maryveth Ochoa, Luke Field, and Adela Ramirez) performed with Grammy Award-winning R&B singer, songwriter, and producer Grace Weber, at the Pabst Theater on November 9, kicking off Milwaukee’s first-ever Theater Week.

Alumna Wins Principal Orchestra Spot

Joan DerHovsepian (’87) was recently named principal violist of the Houston Symphony Orchestra. Since 2010, she has served as the orchestra’s associate principal viola. Her previous roles include principal viola of the Charleston Symphony Orchestra, and guest principal viola with the Chicago and Cincinnati symphonies.
