11/26 Metropolitan Symphony Message

Dear Met musician and family,

We hope you felt that rehearsal was productive and helpful on our new repertoire yesterday! There were a few more absences than we would have liked, but those of you present did a super job, as we started digging into this new music after our initial sight-reading session last week.

Enjoy your Thanksgiving break this week โ€” you DESERVE a little time off from school and your other activities! Even if practicing is harder to manage, you can still take a big step forward on this music by LISTENING to our repertoire links, preferably with your music in front of you. Humorously, we had musicians who were literally on the wrong movement of the de Falla yesterday! If you know ‘how it goes’ you will never make that mistake again! If you can’t do anything else to get ready for the next MYSO rehearsal after break, please try to find time to follow along with your music and get these pieces in your ear. You will be glad you did.

Thanks to the majority of you who turned in the attendance sheet for this cycle of rehearsals. If you haven’t checked your family and personal calendars yet, please do this NOW, and bring the sheet to rehearsal on December 2. For your convenience, we have linked it here.

Thanks to a few audience members who provided iPhone videos of our Play Your Part performance of The Phantom of the Opera! Mr. Emanuelson posted this on his YouTube channel; here is the link. If anyone has a video of our Rienzi Overture performance on their phone, please share this with us and we can put this out there, too, so family or friends who were not able to join us live can get a feel for that special performance on November 9!

We are truly thankful for the opportunity to work together in the Metropolitan Symphony Orchestra! Have a wonderful Thanksgiving!

Have a great week!
