“Traveling, exploring, and playing music with the great friends I made in MYSO are some of the most memorable experiences I’ve had.” Alumnus Christian Morzinski (2015) played cello in the MYSO ensembles for eight years, including five in Senior Symphony. He participated in tours to Austria and the Czech Republic (2012) and to Austria and Hungary (2015). “I made lifelong friendships through MYSO and still keep in touch with many of the people I met. Beyond the social aspect, rehearsal and practice taught me how to better commit myself to working at and achieving my goals.”
Christian is now a student at UW-La Crosse, where he is studying Biomedical Sciences. He is also a Co-Chair of the Asian Student Organization, Principal Cellist of the UW-La Crosse Orchestra, recipient of the Hoeschler Quartet Scholarship, and a member of the Track and Field team. He was honored as a 2017 NCAA Div. III Indoor Track & Field All-American (Weight Throw) and 2017 NCAA Div. III Track & Field Academic All-American.
Reflecting on his experiences with MYSO, Christian added, “I am fortunate for the time I spent there. I was continually given opportunities to expand and deepen my musical experiences. I felt cared for both as a musician and a person, and I am very thankful to the staff and others for making my time there so special.”
