Dear Met Musician and Family,
We trust sectionals were helpful this week! Mr. Emanuelson really enjoyed the time he spent digging into the challenges with the second violins, and hopefully, ALL of you have a better understanding of the challenges—and practice solutions—our repertoire presents. It will be exciting to put everything together as a full orchestra and see where we are.
Looking ahead, please know that there are certainly some passages for every instrument that will require ongoing individual attention. The fast spots in Die Fledermaus, for example, cannot be learned in a single practice session. But if you continue the slow and gradual process of working up to speed by returning to these targeted spots on a DAILY basis over the coming weeks, you WILL be able to play at tempo by November 7!
A reminder that your completed and signed Rehearsal Attendance Plan Sheet is due at our next rehearsal, Monday, October 5. (This sheet and our calendar document are linked below.). Please take a moment and look at your schedule to identify any expected MYSO absences between now and our Play Your Part performance. Your presence at each rehearsal is so vital to our shared success!
It is still very helpful to continue to listen to our repertoire. If you didn’t get a chance to click on the four Duke Ellington YouTube links we shared last week (and linked below), please do this before our next rehearsal. It is so much easier and productive to rehearse when you know how the music is supposed to fit together because of your familiarity as a listener!
Have a great week!
