Dear Met Musician and Family,
Thank you for your concentration and excellent work at our well-attended rehearsal last night.ย We also appreciated Mr. Dan Duffy joining us on drum set, and Mr. Don Sipe sitting in with our trumpet section!ย ย
Looking ahead to our rapidly approaching Play Your Part performance at the Wilson Center for the Arts in Brookfield, next week, please be sure of a few items:
- Dress rehearsal: MYAC onย Friday, November 8,ย 5:15-7:15 pm.ย Please do your best to arrive as close to 5:00 pm, as possible (dress rehearsal does NOT mean concert dress attire!)
- Concert at Sharon Lynne Wilson Center for the Arts:ย Saturday, November 9. Arrive no later than 1:05 pm; concert is 1:50 – 2:20 pm.
- Concert attireย for Met isย all black.ย Musicians wearing black tux or suit should wear a white shirt and a long black tie.ย Please seeย attire specifics linkedย HERE.
Page turns can present a performance challenge.ย If there is an awkward page turn that disrupts your playing, please engineer a solution to this problem.ย Some musicians use a stand partner’s second copy to avoid an unworkable page turn.ย Others make their own copy of the relevant page to eliminate the issue.ย Whatever your situation is, be sure you have solved the problem by our final Monday rehearsal.
Strings: Be sure you have marked the adjusted bowings marked clearly in your music.ย Rienziย has a number of adjustments, so it is vital that your music reflects the bowings we will use.
Keep working with your tuners; intonation is improving every week, so the work at home is having positive results.
Our orchestra is at a really good place on this music right now.ย Our time together for the final week will ensure that you help to take our performance to the next level for our audiences–and for us!ย We are really looking forward to this well-deserved step-up!
Have a great week!
