MYSO Music Director Wins Fullbright Award
Sinfonia Music Director Lauren Roznowski (โ02) has been awarded a Fulbright Distinguished Award in Teaching, for the short-term exchange program. She will spend six weeks in Honduras this summer working in San Pedro Sula, training music teachers at a large music school, one of only 20 teachers selected nationally for this award.
Alum Wins Avery Fisher Grant
Violinist Julian Rhee (โ18) was recently awarded the 2024 Avery Fisher Career Grant. The Lincoln Centerโs Avery Fisher Career Grants program administered by Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts, give outstanding instrumentalists significant recognition on which to continue to build their careers and has been recognized as one of the most prestigious music awards in the world. The Avery Fisher Career Grants have been received by esteemed artists such as Nadja Salerno-Sonnenberg, Anthony McGill, Richard Stoltzman, Pamela Frank, Gil Shaham, Sarah Chang, and more.
MYSO Flutist is MSO Stars of Tomorrow Finalist
Congratulations to Senior Symphony & Chamber Flute Ensemble flutist Zackary Muรฑoz, named a finalist in the Milwaukee Symphony Orchestra (MSO) Stars of Tomorrow Auditions. Zack will perform the Franรงois Borne Carmen Fantasy as soloist with the MSO on the Audrey G. Baird Stars of Tomorrow Concert on April 30 at the Bradley Symphony Center.
Civic Music Announces High School Competition Winners
The Civic Music Association has announced the winners of its 2024 High School Competition. The winners performed on the organizationโs High School Showcase Recital on February 10. Congratulations to Senior Symphony musicians Ava Larsen, cello; Marisa Lehner, flute, and Faith Weigand, bassoon.
