MYSO Tidbits

Senior Symphony Co-Concertmaster Arianna Brusubardis has been named to the National Youth Orchestra of the United States of America for 2018. In early summer, this elite group gathers for a three-week training residency at Purchase College, State University of New York, with leading professional orchestra musicians on the faculty. Following the residency, the orchestra embarks on a tour of some of the world’s great musical capitals. This year’s destination is Asia. The tour kicks off with the orchestra’s annual concert at Carnegie Hall on July 19 and continues with stops in Taipei, Shanghai, Beijing, Seoul and Daejeon, led by conductor Michael Tilson Thomas.

Congrats to Senior Symphony Co-Concertmaster Julian Rhee who, as part of the Kairos String Quartet from the Music Institute of Chicago Academy, recently won first place at the Rembrandt Chamber Musicians Chamber Music Competition held earlier this year in Evanston, Illinois.
