Philharmonia violinist and Progressions graduate Autumn Mays was awarded the national title of Outstanding American Miss Jr Teen 2018 on April 14. She had previously won the pageantโ€™s National Talent title for her violin solos in 2016 and 2017.

Congrats to Senior Symphony Co-Concertmaster Julian Rhee who, as part of the Kairos String Quartet from the Music Institute of Chicago Academy, won first place of the junior strings division of the M-Prize Chamber Arts Competition on May 5. M-Prize is an international chamber arts competition based in Ann Arbor, at the University of Michigan School of Music, Theatre & Dance. The group also received the Junior Division Gold Medal at the 45th Annual Fischoff Competition, the nationโ€™s largestโ€“and one of the most prestigiousโ€“chamber music competition, in Notre Dame, Indiana, on May 13.

Julian has also been named a U.S. Presidential Scholar in the Arts, one of 20 in the U.S. He will be presented with a Presidential Scholar Medallion on June 24 in Washington, D.C., at a ceremony sponsored by the White House.
