Excellent Philharmonia Rehearsal Last Night!

Hello, Philharmonia Musicians and Parents!

I’m writing to thank you for your great work at last night’s rehearsal! I wanted to make sure we took our time getting settled in and working to produce our first sounds together as an orchestra, so the pacing of last night’s rehearsal was a bit slower than it normally will be. I enjoyed hearing all of our sections for the first time and I’m looking forward to working with you again next week!

Regarding our music for the fall cycle, please be sure to practice the sections that you need to review before our next rehearsal. I’ll be more specific about identifying those measures in the coming weeks, but for now, I think you are in the best position to determine where you should focus your practice efforts.

Our performance on November 5 will include the 1st and 4th movement of L’Arlesienne Suite, Russian Sailors’ Dance, and Radetzky March. I’ll copy performance links of L’Arlesienne Suite and Radetzky March below – please be sure to listen to them several times so you become very familiar with this music.  (I haven’t yet found a recording of Russian Sailors’ Dance that I want to send to you)

L’Arlesienne Suite No. 2

Mvt. I starts at 17:40; Mvt. IV starts at 33:00

Radetzky March

Thanks again for a great first rehearsal!  Have a great weekend and upcoming week!  See you on Thursday, September 14!

Mr. Duffy
