Philanthropy Officer – Foundations and Institutional Giving

Who We Are: Since 1956, The Milwaukee Youth Symphony Orchestra (MYSO) has been nurturing, challenging and inspiring young minds through music. MYSO is the largest and one of the most successful and respected after school youth orchestra programs in the nation. We serve more than 6,000 students ages 8-18, and MYSO is regularly recognized for its artistic excellence.

About the Role: We are looking for a Philanthropy Officer – Foundations and Institutional Giving to join our ensemble. Under the strategic direction of the Executive Director, the Philanthropy Officer – Foundations and Institutional Giving has direct responsibility and accountability for our foundations and institutional giving program. This includes managing the full proposal and grant life cycle process, including researching funding opportunities, competitive selection, solicitation, grant writing, award monitoring, post-award support to ensure compliance, and analyzing and reporting grant financial data. This role will also have accountability for leading and managing all aspects of our UPAF relationships (grants and campaigns).

What it takes to be our Philanthropy Officer – Foundations and Institutional Giving: Successful candidates will have a minimum of 7 years fundraising and development experience in the nonprofit sector; a bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university or commensurate work experience; and a verified track record of meeting or exceeding measurable fundraising goals in a medium to large, fast-paced nonprofit environment. We are looking for a strong leader with effective communication, writing skills, and public speaking skills who has demonstrated the ability to build, maintain, and manage long-term relationships with fundraising constituents. This position is ideal for a high energy individual who has strong project management, and organizational skills, and the ability to manage multiple fundraising initiatives concurrently. This position requires the ability to work evenings and weekends. Access to transportation to visit donors, prospects and attend events is also required.

Salary will be commensurate with experience and skills.
