11.22.24 Sinfonia Message

Hello, Sinfonia Musicians,

Thank you for your wonderful work yesterday! Remember, we will have no Sinfonia rehearsal next week, November 28. Enjoy the rest and time with family!

One of our pieces of music requires a mute. If you do not yet have a mute, please acquire one by the next rehearsal. Ms. Koch and I recommend either of the following brands: Tourte Mute or Bech Mute. You should not get something called a practice mute, which are meant to almost silence your instrument for practice in a shared space like a hotel room. A regular Tourte or Bech mute will be perfect.

Your practice these next two weeks should including listening to the recordings, and the following:

1. Romanian Folk Dances

Violins, you received new parts yesterday, and they were emailed last week. Make sure you practice your new parts. Everyone should focus on movements 5, 6, and 7, slowly increasing speed as comfort develops.

2. Festival at Newport

Use a metronome and practice at quarter note=112. Pay attention to your dynamics.

3. Last Rose of Summer

Add vibrato and expressive dynamics to every phrase.

4. Egmont Overture

Focus your practice on m. 73 to the end. Remember that we are dividing by stand in the sections with two staves.

Thank you, and have a great week off!

Ms. Roz
