Hello, Sinfonia Musicians,
Thank you for a great rehearsal yesterday. It was wonderful to see you all after the break! Next week we have sectionals with our coaches, so please mark spots in your music that you would like to go over with your section. Playing through all of the music is the best way to prepare!
- Beethoven: Practice all of this! When theย Allegroย begins, start with quarter note=120, and see how close you can get to 180. Make it precise!
- Last Rose of Summer: Add vibrato to every note, and avoid all open strings if possible. Bring out the moving notes!
- Festival at Newport: when we move to 3/4, keep the beat steady at quarter note=112.
- Romanian Folk Dances: Pay attention to all articulations in the music. What sound should your bow be making, and what are the markings in the music telling us to do?
Lastly, some of you have asked me to link two MYSO opportunities in my message this week:
- Sinfonia Concerto Competition: Apply by THIS SUNDAY, 12/8.
- Winter Chamber Ensemble Program: Ignore the due date on the web page; MYSO is still taking applications for the next week or so.
Thank you, and have a great week!
Ms. Roz
