Dear String Orchestra North and Central Musicians,
Wonderful job at the Play Your Part concert!ย It’s wonderful making music with you! We are truly at our best when we work together, learn from one another, and trust each other.
Here are listening links and a few tips for how to be an active listener for pieces on the Winter Concert (Sat., Feb. 8.) cycle.
Links to Recordings:
- The Gathering of Eagles, Bob Baker of the Squamish First Nation/arr. Robert Buckley
- Themes from The New World Symphony, Antonรญn Dvoลรกk/arr. by Carrie Lane Gruselle
- Danse, Samuel Coleridge-Taylor/arr. Kirk Moss
- Disney Classics,ย arr. Charles Sayre
Tips for Listening:
- Position yourself in the right location away from distractions.
- Listen on a smartphone or computer using earbuds or headphones.
- Follow along with your sheet music, and hum along with your part once you know the melody.
- Practice ear training. Begin to recognize different rhythms, tempos, pitches, intervals, dynamics, and keys.
Thank you! See you again on Monday, November 18!
