Dear Musicians,
We are pleased to present MYSO’s Chamber Orchestra as a distinctive performance opportunity for our most advanced musicians. The orchestra offers a soloistic setting in which you can perform some of the greatest repertoire ever written. Those of you who have played in Chamber Orchestra know the experience well: a relatively small string section paired with one-player-per-part winds and brass creates an ensemble of exceptional clarity and balance.
Music composed by Debussy, Mozart, Beethoven, Mendelssohn, De Falla, Stravinsky, Bach, Prokofiev, Haydn, Schubert, to Ravel, are just a few of the composers performed by this premier ensemble over the last 30 years.
I invite you to join this outstanding orchestra. You will perform complete large-scale works from across many historical periods and genres. The final repertoire will be selected once we know the personnel, so I encourage you to join. Rehearsals start in November, are not every week, and are primarily on Wednesdays from 4:15 – 6:30 pm. Please refer to the calendar for the dates of our two concerts.

Although we aim to include as many interested musicians as possible, the nature of much chamber orchestra literature requires a smaller complement of winds, brass, and strings. In cases where we cannot accommodate everyone, those not assigned will be designated as alternates. The fee to participate in one or both sessions is $310, and financial assistance is available, as with all MYSO programs. You will be invoiced through your Active Network account once your participation is confirmed.

Thank you for considering this opportunity. I hope you will join us and look forward to receiving your responses before August.
My best,
