Hello, Senior Symphony!
South Korea was absolutely incredible! Warm and welcoming people, amazing concert halls, safe, ancient, ultra-modern culture, lovely hotels, yummy FOOD!, beaches, and incredible shopping…everything! I look forward to returning next summer with as many of you I can encourage to go. Korean audiences will love our orchestra, and you will treasure the time with each other making music. Memories of a lifetime.
Please sign up for this fantastic opportunity—though it’s expensive, it is not out of reach. Raise money for you trip with our good name through our Play Your Part event and use the fundraising page we have already designed for you. Your friends and family love you, and you will be surprised how effective sharing this information with them will be! I have seen this work very well over and over since my first MYSO trip to Carnegie Hall in 1994. Contact me or Mrs. Bestul, marnabestul@myso.org and we’ll help you. Also remember that limited financial support will be made available to those who qualify.
I hope your audition preparations are going very well. Read the directions and if you need anything at all, please let me know. Your appointment time and the audition requirements were sent out a couple weeks ago by the MYSO “mothership.” : ) Also, please check out the schedules I have attached again. Get all this on your and your family’s calendars, and sign up for the chamber orchestra! Chamber Orchestra Interest Form | MYSO
Senior Symphony will start rehearsing soon(!) on Thursday, August 20th and I will send you information about repertoire and part assignments for our Welcome Concerts next week. You’ll need to learn the music by August 20th. We could use 2-3 more excellent horns, another super oboe, and a couple more basses…but we’re rocking already. Let me know if you have a friend who plays well and wants to join.
A bunch of you have already shared your interest about helping as a leader in Senior Symphony…LAST CALL! If you would like to be considered, read below and let me know.
Also, recall the note about the Anthony J. Petullo Leadership Fellows Program which came to you, July 23rd. Many of you may be interested in this fantastic new program, too. You can certainly apply and participate in both opportunities.
Most Important! Remember, every single one of you is an amazing incredible person and we are so fortunate to have the opportunity to be together. Please let me know if and how I can help you.
More next week.
Best,
Carter
