Auditions and Programs!

Good Morning!

I hope that each of you is doing great and that summer has been treating you well!  It’s nice to have a little break before we all get back to our school schedules and other activities.  This note contains information about concerts ad some of the music we’ll perform.

This July, the orchestra enjoyed a fantastic tour of Belgium and The Netherlands. The musicians played magnificently and enjoyed multiple standing ovations by large enthusiastic audiences in cultural spaces including Queen Elisabeth Hall in Antwerp and the Royal Concertgebouw in Amsterdam.  That concert was made even more special with an introduction by U.S. Consul General, Kate Nanavatty, and by special guests who came to hear us, the Dutch Symphonic Youth Orchestra, JSO De Vuurvogel. So great! We look forward to bringing our growth and experiences to the Senior Symphony this season.

I really look forward to speaking with each of you and hearing you play later this month.  I trust that you were able to locate the audition excerpts, too!  They’ve been taken from two of the pieces we’ll perform this fall on our Saturday, November 11th concert.

Before the tour, members of the Senior Symphony Program Committee met with me a few times—for this fall we decided on two programs listed below.  The orchestra will start work on this material at our first rehearsal on Thursday, August 24th at 4:30pm and you’ll receive assignments and music next week.  You will need to know the Welcome concert music before we start rehearsals.  That’s very important…

Here is a reminder of the first set of rehearsals and also the concert dates for the season.  The complete set of rehearsals will come to you very soon.

I will send another note about leadership positions in the coming days.  Until then, please write me with any questions or concerns you might have.  You have my best wishes!

Carter

Music Director, Senior Symphony
