Dear Senior Symphony,
I bet many of you are starting school this week or next–you have my best wishes during this busy time! I hope each of you have a great school year!
I have been so pleased to hear and visit with each of you over the past week. Thank you for the time and effort you have invested in performing all of the audition material and in advancing in the study of your instruments, too! Also, the first couple rehearsals have been fabulous and I know we’ll strive for even better next week. The Wind Ensemble and String Orchestra students are going to LOVE you.
So, I think most of the music for the fall concerts is on the website Member Page now, and I am also pleased to share the Wind, Brass, and Percussion assignments with you players at this time. Printed music will be given to all of you, but please look online to download/view your assigned parts so that you can begin learning the material. I have a couple more students to hear before I can settle the string assignments—those will be shared with you late next week, I think.
A little reminder of what’s next is just below.
The Welcome Concerts are intended for the students in Wind Ensemble and String Orchestra. Parents and family members shouldn’t plan to attend these due to the lack of audience room in Youth Arts Hall–though I can’t keep you from loitering nearby. 🙂 The orchestra sounds terrific! I mentioned in rehearsal that we will not wear concert dress, just like nice–no shorts though, please. I will also prepare some brief remarks for a couple of you to read, too.
Again, I am so happy you are a part of the orchestra! I hope you have a super Friday and a great weekend. I will be out of the office through next Monday. If you need me, I will be back with a smile on Tuesday.
