Dear Senior Symphony,
What a busy week. Here it is almost Friday! I bet you have a full weekend planned, too, knowing how things go for most of you.
Thanks again for thinking about all the young players who listened to you over the past two weeks. Whenever you see players younger than yourselves, please remember to give and encouraging hello or welcoming look to them. Very often the youngest are either star-struck or intimidated by all the taller, older musicians like you. It can be scary to be a musician, especially when you are still learning the basics!
So, we have our own work cut out for us, Senior Symphony! Let’s go! On Monday, we’ll be in sectionals for an hour before we rehearse as an orchestra. Ben Haimann will work with the Percussion, Don Sipe with Brass, Kevin Pearl with the Winds, and the strings will be led by your Principal players. I’ll be here, too, to help where needed. This sectional time is not optional, and everyone is expected to help refine your section…it’s about you, and it’s about everyone.
Please prepare the following music for sectional work and rehearsal:
Leaders/Coaches, work within these areas, please, on what your section needs. Other music if you have time, of course.
Saint-Saëns
- Letters J-O & V-X
- Prestos in WW & Maestoso before S- End
