Progressions Viola Instructor Miguel Barrenechea is a violist and violinist from Brazil. He pursued his undergraduate studies at the Federal University of the State of Rio de Janeiro (UNIRIO), achieving his bachelor’s degree in music performance in 2021. He performed with groups such as UNIRIO Symphony Orchestra, the UNIRIO Baroque Orchestra, and the string orchestra Camerata Laranjeiras.

Miguel continued his studies at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee (UWM), where he obtained his master’s degree in string pedagogy. There, he had the privilege of studying with names such as Bernard Zinck, Darcy Drexler, Jamie Hofman, and Claudia Lasareff-Minoroff. At UWM, he performed with the UWM Symphony Orchestra, the UWM Community Orchestra, and several chamber groups, including the Cantilena Quartet.

In addition, Miguel is the orchestra teacher at Pius XI High School in Milwaukee.
