String Orchestra Central Coach Rodrigo Ramos is a Brazilian violinist and educator based in Milwaukee. He boasts extensive experience in both performance and music instruction. Starting his musical journey in 2010, Rodrigo honed his skills through social projects and mentorship from renowned Brazilian teachers like Ricardo Amado and Mariana Salles. He holds a degree in music education from the Federal University of the State of Rio de Janeiro (UNIRIO), complemented by studies in violin performance. As a violinist, Rodrigo has graced prestigious stages worldwide, collaborating with esteemed artists such as Elina Garanca, Lorenz Nasturica-Herschcowici, Maria Mena, and more. His dedication to music education shines through his specialization in the Suzuki method, his involvement in social projects across Rio de Janeiro and his graduate teaching assistantship at UW-Milwaukee. Rodrigo has recently earned his Master’s degree in violin performance–under the guidance of Dr. Bernard Zinck–from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee. In addition, he serves as orchestra teacher for the Barack Obama School in Milwaukee.
