Prelude Wind Ensemble low brass instructor Dr. Emmy Rozanski is a trombonist, music educator, and life coach based in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Accomplished in a wide variety of musical styles, Emmy performs regularly in musicals, orchestras, chamber groups, jazz ensembles, and even a German brass band. She is a founding member of the Firefly Brass Duo, which performed at the 2022 and 2025 International Women’s Brass Conference, and she served as Principal Trombonist for the National Women’s Music Festival Orchestra in 2019, 2022, and 2024.

Teaching has always been an important part of Emmy’s musical life. A MYSO alumna, Emmy enjoys helping the next generation of MYSO students as a teacher for the Prelude Wind Ensemble. Additionally, she works for the Wisconsin Conservatory of Music in the Connections program and maintains a successful private lesson studio of low brass students.

Following a deep interest in the workings of the mind, and how thought and brain patterns affect musicians’ mental well-being, Emmy has trained as a life coach and presented workshops on resilience, intrinsic motivation, and growth mindset at the International Women’s Music Festival, and International Trombone Festival, as well as colleges, universities, and youth orchestras nationwide.

Emmy earned both a Doctor of Musical Arts degree and Master of Music degree from Arizona State University and completed her Bachelor of Music degree at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee. A passionate visual artist, as well as musician, she has written and illustrated a
children’s book about the trombone, Mr. Fitch Joins the Band.
